Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of the respective months at the Heritage Centre, Roe Street, Macclesfield, starting at 19:30.


For events marked with * a donation of £3 is requested from non-members - but please join us.


19 February 2020 at 07:30pm – Meeting at the Heritage Centre on the Future of our Parks as they enter their Second Century *

An interactive talk by the speaker, George Broughton of Cheshire East.


29 February 2020 - NOTE the new date  Deadline for nominations to our Chairman for this year's Civic Society Awards Scheme for developments completed during 2019. See our awards pageNominations for "grot spots" around the town are also welcome. Perhaps the risk of publicity may spur some action.


15 April 2020 at 07:30pm – at the Heritage Centre the Civic Society Awards for developments completed in 2019 * NOTE - This event has been CANCELLED. 

The entries in the scheme to find the best developments of 2019 will be displayed together with the assessment of the judging panel, which comprises members of the Executive Committee and representatives of Macclesfield Town Council.  The list of nominations for the 2019 awards will be published here. The Mayor of Macclesfield will present the awards, and a social evening will follow.


2020 Walks and Visits


27 May 2020 – Suburban and Industrial Development at Hurdsfield from the 1950s to the Present - NOTE - This event is under review.

Meet at 07:30pm at the Hurdsfield Green shopping centre on Carrisbrook Avenue.

A donation of £3 from non-members welcomed.


xx June 2020 – As part of the Barnaby Festival (theme is VISION) a walk around town covering points of interest - with views - NOTE - This event is under review.

Meet at the Town Hall entrance at 2pm. With possible refreshment(s) at a hostelry ! Places limited to 20 - reserve by contacting the Chairman on 01625 424101 or email  Date and further details to follow.


15 July 2020 – The annual Town Centre Walk – key sites and fringe areas of interest in the centre. Development opportunities and problems to be solved.  NOTE - This event is under review - Hopefully we will see some signs of action.

Meet at Churchill Way Car Park at 07:30pm.

A donation of £3 from non-members welcomed.


Executive Committee Meetings 

The Executive Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 19:30 in Sainsbury's Cafe. Members are welcome to attend.
