Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of the respective months, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. From the 2021 - 2022 season the meetings will be held at an upstairs meeting room at Macclesfield Library, Jordangate, Macclesfield. Entry will be by the side door to the library, situated in Brunswick Street.


For events marked with * a donation of £3 from non-members would be appreciated - but please join us. 



17 NOVEMBER 2021  –  Annual Meeting of the Society.

A report of the last two years followed by consideration of changes to the constitution and membership fees.  On completion of this business there will be a presentation and discussion on the implications of the COP26 Climate Change Conference for Macclesfield with speakers from MaccTastic and Macclesfield Town Council.


A charge of £4 will be made to cover the cost of refreshments.


19 JANUARY 2022 - A presentation by Keele University on their study of Place, Crime and Insecurity in everyday life. *

This study is ongoing and centred on Macclesfield.  It also updates an earlier study conducted two decades ago.


16 February 2022 - A discussion on a topic yet to be finalised but which would look at likely changes and developments over the next five years in Macclesfield. *

Also, how have the last five years evolved - are changes positive or negative ?


20 April 2022 - The Civic Awards Presentations covering the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. *

Quite a number of schemes have been completed - which are the best how are they to be celebrated ?





15 June 2022 (WEDNESDAY) - A walk at Upton Priory to view developments since the 1960s. *

The walk will include a distant peek at the new King's School of Macclesfield on Alderley Road.

Meet at 7:30pm at the Leisure Centre car park off Priory Lane.

A donation of £3 from non-members would be appreciated.


13 July 2022 (WEDNESDAY) – A return visit to Alderley Park to view developments over the past three years.

This would include a visit to some of the refurbished research buildings. Places are limited to 30 - please notify the Chairman if you wish to attend.

Use the North entrance to the Park to meet at the new GLASSHOUSE (former CTL building) at 2pm - car park is adjacent.

A donation of £5 from non-members welcomed.


17 August 2022 (WEDNESDAY)  – The annual Town Centre Walk – key sites and fringe areas of interest in the centre. Development opportunities and problems to be solved. *

Meet at Churchill Way Car Park at 7:30pm.

A donation of £3 from non-members would be welcomed.


Executive Committee Meetings 

The Executive Committee meets in normal times on the second Tuesday of each month at 19:30 in The Flowerpot. Members are welcome to attend.
