Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of the respective months at the Heritage Centre, Roe Street, Macclesfield, starting at 19:30.


For events marked with * a donation of £3 is requested from non-members - but please join us. 



15 April 2020 at 07:30pm – at the Heritage Centre the Civic Society Awards for developments completed in 2019 * NOTE - This event was CANCELLED.   Further details of revived awards schemes for 2019 and 2020 will follow.

The entries in the scheme to find the best developments of 2019 will be displayed together with the assessment of the judging panel, which comprises members of the Executive Committee and representatives of Macclesfield Town Council.  The list of nominations for the 2019 awards will be published here. The Mayor of Macclesfield will present the awards, and a social evening will follow.  Event was cancelled.



2021 Walks and Visits - Provisional Programme - Check here for any changes


21 July 2021 – Suburban and Industrial Development at Hurdsfield from the 1950s to the Present. *

Meet at 7:30pm at the Hurdsfield Green shopping centre on Carrisbrook Avenue.

A donation of £3 from non-members welcomed.


18 August 2021 – Development at Fence Avenue and along the Macclesfield Canal from Buxton Road to Hurdsfield Road. *

Meet at former Macclesfield Girls School at 7:30pm. A request has been made to the developer to enter the site of the residential conversion and new build.

A donation of £3 from non-members welcomed.


15 September 2021 – The annual Town Centre Walk – key sites and fringe areas of interest in the centre. Development opportunities and problems to be solved. *

Meet at Churchill Way Car Park at 7:30pm.

A donation of £3 from non-members welcomed.


Executive Committee Meetings 

The Executive Committee meets in normal times on the second Tuesday of each month at 19:30 in Sainsbury's Cafe. Members are welcome to attend.
